The music program at Kingston Catholic offers a wide variety of learning opportunities for young musicians. Our choir, band, guitar, and musical theater provide experiences for students at all levels of experience and proficiency. Small group lessons, full company rehearsals, and performance opportunities ensure that each musician reaches his or her full potential.
Choir: Students in grades 3-8 are welcome to join the choir and discover the joy of vocal music. Students will learn the art of marking music, to cooperate and be a responsible member of a group, and to appreciate all styles of music. Choir Director and Music Department Coordinator Mrs. Faith Kwiecinski facilitates this Program. Faith has been part of the area’s music community for more than 20 years.
Instrumental Music: Students in grades 4-8 are invited to play the flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, or percussion. (All students in grade three at KCS will learn to play the recorder during their weekly general music class.) Mr. Sean Gallagher is our instrumental music teacher and Band Director. His love of music and children comes shining through in all of his work at KCS.
Guitar: Mr. David Kwiecinski (Mr. K) is our PK-8 General Music teacher and our guitar teacher. Mr. K. has been part of the local music community for more than 30 years, plays with several area choirs, and teaches at the Kingston Conservatory of Music. Our guitar program grows each year as our students experience the rewards of musical accomplishment with Mr. K.
Musical Theater: Our program includes experience both on the stage and behind the scenes as students not only sing, dance and act, and run all aspects of lighting, sound, production technology and manage “the house” as well.
Dance: Hip-hop, tap, jazz, lyrical, and the fundamentals of ballet make up the KCS Dance Program. Students in grades PK-8 will have the opportunity to attend various fter school workshops, intensives, and group lessons throughout the school year. Our young dancers will discover the joy of rhythm and movement, the strength that comes from discipline and participation, and the value of teamwork.
