National Junior Honor Society: Each spring academically qualifying students in grades 6-8 are invited to apply to the Kingston Catholic chapter of the National Junior Honor Society. The society accepts students demonstrating exceptional character, scholastic effort, leadership potential, and service to others. At KCS, our society focuses on both school and community service through a host of projects and events run by the students. A special area of focus at Kingston Catholic is service to our younger students. For information about this program, please contact Mrs. Ann Mino or Mrs. Pattie Balcanoff at 845-331-9318.
Each Fall, our students elect a student council president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer to lead this important, student-based service organization. During the course of the school year, our student council will host special events for students, address important school issues, serves as mentors to their peers, and fund-raise for our school as well as our global community.
Past projects have included participation in Souls for Soles shoe drives for impoverished global communities, recycling efforts, supporting the Peoples’ Place and Catholic Charities. The Christmas Sock Hop for primary grade students, holiday themed dances for middle grade students, coloring contests, bake sales, and Catholic Schools Week events are just a few of the many activities sponsored by the council to foster school spirit.
Guys and Dolls, Jr. g2k Oklahoma, Aladdin, Jr., Willy Wonka, Jr., g2k Annie, Jr., Beauty and the Beast, Jr., g2k Thoroughly Modern Millie, g2k The King and I, and the Little Mermaid, Jr., Lion King, Jr., Legally Blonde, Jr. and Seussical, Jr. are some of the full-scale musicals produced by the KCS Musical Theater Program.
Each year, students in grades 1-8 take to the KCS stage to delight us with their acting, singing and dancing talents. Behind the scenes, students learn to run the show’s lighting, sound, props, sets, and more. In addition to broadening the students’ cultural experiences, musical theater provides lessons in math, science, technology, personal responsibility, teamwork, and much more. It is the mission of the Kingston Catholic School physical education team to build champions, both on and off the field.
